Located on southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast and Estero Bay, between Fort Myers and Naples, Bonita Springs offers a variety of natural attractions like nature preserves, parks and gardens. There are plenty of places to explore by boat, including small islands, canals, coves and the thin strip of land that’s home to Big Hickory Island and Little Hickory Island Beach Park.

Barefoot Beach County Preserve

The 342-acre Barefoot Beach County Preserve is a terrific spot for nature lovers to visit from a private boat lift rental. Check out wildlife, marine animals and other natural attractions on this undeveloped barrier island. The nearby Bonita Beach Park has restrooms, showers and concession stands. There’s a learning center with natural history exhibits, a one-mile walking trail, bike racks, picnic tables and pavilions.
Wonder Gardens

Open since 1936, as The Reptile Gardens, Wonder Gardens is one of the best places to visit in Bonita Springs. You’ll find botanical gardens, tropical orchids and more than 300 rescued, rehabilitated and non-releasable animals. Visit alligators, flamingos, macaws, parrots, pythons and Chinese golden pheasants. Now owned by the City of Bonita Springs, the venue features the nostalgia and history of old Florida and its plants and wildlife.
Riverside Park

Located in downtown Bonita Springs, Riverside Park offers green space with a band shell for concerts and events such as outdoor movies and festivals. The park has a veteran’s memorial, a fountain, picnic shelters and benches.
