Roman Theatre Museum

One of Cartagena’s most iconic landmarks, the Roman Theatre dates back to the 1st century BC and is one of the best-preserved ancient theaters in Spain. Discovered in the 1980s, it has since been carefully restored and is now home to a fascinating museum that takes visitors through the history of the site. Walking through the grand amphitheater is a must for history enthusiasts to check out from private boat docks for rent.

Castillo de la Concepción

For breathtaking panoramic views of Cartagena, head to the Castillo de la Concepción. Located on a hill in the center of the city, this medieval fortress provides an excellent vantage point to see the harbor and historic cityscape. The castle also features exhibitions about Cartagena’s history and its strategic importance throughout the centuries.

Naval Museum

Cartagena has a long naval history, and the Naval Museum is a great place to learn about it. The highlight is the Peral Submarine, which is a terrific spot to check out from a private boat slip or marina. Designed by Isaac Peral in 1888, it was one of the world’s first electric-powered submarines. The museum showcases the city’s maritime past and its role as a key naval base in Spain.

Punic Wall of Cartagena

The Punic Wall Interpretation Center offers a glimpse into the city’s ancient Carthaginian past. Built in the 3rd century BC, this defensive wall is one of the oldest structures in Cartagena. The museum provides insight into the city’s founding and its role during the Punic Wars between Carthage and Rome.

National Museum of Underwater Archaeology

For those interested in maritime history, the National Museum of Underwater Archaeology (ARQUA) is an excellent spot to visit from a private boat lift rental.
