Dock and Dine: 4 Restaurants to Visit by Boat in Boston

Dock and Dine: 4 Restaurants to Visit by Boat in Boston

With all there is to see and do in Boston, both on land and from the water, you’re gonna need to eat at some point. The downtown Boston waterfront offers several dock and dine restaurants, meaning you can pull up your boat and dock right beside (or at least nearby) them. No need to go back to the private boat slip rental. Grab a bite and get right back to fun on the water (or you might just want to stay a while).

Temazcal Tequila Cantina, located at Liberty Wharf on Boston Harbor, serves tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, adobe braised short ribs and other Mexican fare as well as fusion combinations such as lobster guacamole and temazcal beet salad. Of course, there’s also margaritas and a whole lotta tequila. Enjoy waterfront views before sailing back to a private boat dock for rent.

Situated beside Temazcal in the Seaport District, Legal Seafoods Harborside offers three floors of dining and entertainment options. There’s an oyster bar, a market and a rooftop lounge with a retractable glass roof. Enjoy a casual seafood dinner or pick out a fresh fillet to take back to the private boat slip rental. Other selections include oysters, New England clam chowder, grilled salmon, lobster mac and cheese, shrimp scampi and filet mignon. Transient docking is available at Liberty Wharf Marina.

The Barking Crab

Located on the Fort Point Channel in South Boston, the Barking Crab offers outdoor seating under a tent and some indoor dining. Sit dockside and watch the boat traffic while enjoying grilled yellowfin tuna, fried clams, lobster rolls, fish tacos, fried chicken, steak tips and more. The Marina at the Barking Crab has temporary slips available for day visits. The marina is between Northern Avenue Bridge and the Evelyn Moakley Bridge at Seaport Blvd. It’s open from May through October. Dock space is limited so it’s best to call ahead (dining reservations aren’t necessary).

You’ll find Rowes Wharf Sea Grille inside the Boston Harbor Hotel. The Marina at Rowes Wharf has 38 slips. You have up to four hours at the marina with your restaurant receipt. Sit waterside on the patio and enjoy the sunset and live music. Check it out for breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails. Choose from seafood, chicken and steak dishes. If you’re feeling extra fancy, head there for afternoon tea.
