1. Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system, is a bucket-list destination for divers. Spanning more than 2,300 kilometers (1,429 miles), it boasts thousands of species of marine life, colorful corals and stunning underwater landscapes. 2. Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel is famous for its clear water and drift diving along the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest reef system in the world. The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary is the third largest reef system in the world — and the only one in the United States. Spanning more than 3,800 square miles, the sanctuary protects one of the world’s most extensive coral reef systems.
