This post will give you a high-level overview of how you can use PierShare to search for and rent a dock.

Searching for a Dock

Searching for a dock can be a tiresome, time-consuming process. PierShare makes searching for one as easy as possible. From our homepage, you can simply enter the city you’d like to find a dock in and you’re instantly greeted with the available spaces to rent. Our systems actively track the availability of each dock based on whether a rental is occurring so you can feel confident that the listings are up-to-date. To further simplify your search, you can filter down these listings to find a dock that suits your particular needs.

Inquiring About a Dock

Once you’ve found a dock that is a great fit, you’re able to inquire about the dock directly through our integrated platform at the click of a button. No more phone calls, no more phone tag, no more chasing multiple docks. Our automated systems handle the entire process for you! 

If it’s your first time inquiring about a dock, you will be prompted to create an account which allows you to become connected to our platform. After doing so, you are brought to a short inquiry panel that allows you to upload the dimensions of your boat as well as a few other important details. This simple questionnaire captures all of the relevant information about your docking that the dock owner would need to know in order to pre-approve or decline your request.

After submitting your inquiry you may feel free to complete our verification process or wait until you are pre-approved for the space. This simple process allows you to upload your boat insurance to our platform, as well as link a credit or debit card to your account so that if you decide to eventually dock at one of our listings you never have to worry about handling payments. We never charge any payment method that has been linked to your account until it’s been confirmed that you dock your boat at one of our spaces, and you may feel free to inquire about and visit as many dock spaces as you’d like before committing to any one of them!

Once you've found a dock you love and you're ready to commit to it, our platform allows you to secure it for yourself so that no other boaters can inquire about it or take it! And once you dock your boat, you or the dock owner are free to confirm your arrival so that your docking officially begins.

Docking Your Boat

Once you become a verified PierShare Boater and the Dock Owner has pre-approved your request, you may begin texting and calling the dock owner through our secure communication infrastructure that protects your privacy.. You can receive SMS texts and phone calls directly to your cell phone without ever needing to share your personal information with the Dock Owner. In addition, any updates concerning your docking are posted to the SMS thread that you have with the dock owner.

Departing Your Dock

At the end of your stay, you simply select your anticipated departure date and sail away and our systems automatically prorate any charges. For Dock Owners, there’s no need to start reaching out to find new Boaters, as our systems will automatically alert Boaters who showed interest in your dock while it was being departed by the current boater that it’s now available.
